Neck Pain

We all experience neck pain from time to time – sometimes you sleep wrong, move your head too fast or overuse
Neck Pain physical therapy treatment

For some, the pain never goes away and causes continuous headaches. It can flare up while sitting for long periods of time, exercising, playing with your kids or while trying to do the sports you love. No matter what symptoms you’re experiencing, there is help. Our team at PRO Therapy can help you find the root cause.

Common Cause of Neck Pain

Getting to the bottom of what’s bothering your neck is key to creating the best treatment plan for you. In addition to pain, other signs and symptoms can indicate if there’s an issue with your neck, like:

  • Persistent ache or stiffness in the neck
  • Shooting pain from neck to shoulders or arms
  • Headaches
  • Difficulty turning the neck
  • Numbness or tingling in shoulders, arms or fingers
Neck strain usually comes from everyday activities with poor posture, working at a desk for too long without change, sleeping with your neck in a bad position or wrong movement during an exercise.

Other common neck pain is caused by motor vehicle accidents – Strained, torn, or stretched ligaments can cause ongoing neck pain after an accident. Even if time has passed and it doesn’t seem related, letting your provider know of any motor vehicle accident history is important.

    Neck Pain Treatment

Our team of physical therapists, all fully licensed Doctors of Physical Therapy, have a bunch of tricks up their sleeves to ease your neck pain and get you moving again

    Manual Therapy

    Joint mobilization
Gentle movements to improve mobility in areas of the spine that are restricted, restoring normal joint mechanics and reducing stiffness.

    Soft tissue mobilization
Techniques like massage and myofascial release may be used to release tension in muscles, ligaments and fascia focused around the spine.

    Trigger point therapy
We provide targeted pressure to alleviate muscle tension and improve function.

    Therapeutic Interventions

    Movement Analysis
During movement analysis, our physical therapists analyze posture, balance, and other factors to help diagnose the root cause of your pain.

    Custom Rehab Programs
We create personalized rehab plans to strengthen your muscles, boost your flexibility, and help you straighten up your posture.

    Postural Training
We’ll give you the lowdown on Posture 101 – what is best for you right now? Should you stand? Should you sit? Both? Let us help you find the best postural changes for you.

    Therapeutic Interventions

    Custom Rehab Programs
We’ll create a personalized rehab program to strengthen the muscles supporting the neck, improve your flexibility, and provide more stability.

    Functional Training
We pay special attention to simulating real-life movements to improve overall function and performance.

Activity modification and return to sport
We help you carefully and gradually progress your activity level to reduce the risk of re-injury.

    The PRO Therapy Difference

At PRO Therapy, our goal is to empower you to live a pain-free life by addressing the root causes of your neck pain and providing comprehensive treatment tailored to your unique needs.

If you’re suffering from neck pain and stiffness, it’s easy to hope that it will go away on its own. You might think you just slept awkwardly, or it’s just a spasm, or that everyone your age has neck pain.

If you’re experiencing neck pain and don’t know what caused it, everything you’ve tried isn’t working and you’re fed up – you’ve come to the right place. As a matter of fact, general neck pain and sciatica are the most common concerns that we hear about at PRO Therapy.

The difference between seeing one of our physical therapists and seeing your primary care doctor or another type of provider is that a Doctor of Physical Therapy is more specialized in assessing causes of pain and stiffness.

In just a couple of sessions, we can often dial down your pain and stiffness and get you feeling better fast.

Brooke is incredibly knowledgeable and personable. She listens and works with you and uses your experience and knowledge of yourself and your body as a guide to get great results. This has been the most collaborative PT experience I’ve ever had, in the best way possible. I can’t recommend her and PRO therapy enough.

PRO Therapy has been awesome! I began visiting for help with managing my rheumatoid arthritis. Dr. Kelvyn is attentive and professional. The treatment portion of my visits provides effective recovery and the exercises and homework have helped me to improve my strength, mobility, and quality of life. I highly recommend PRO Therapy!

Working with Lily at the Northeast clinic was awesome! I worked with her for over a year rehabbing a knee issue. She was very patient with me and worked at my pace, but would push me when she knew I could handle it. She was professional, yet a joy to work with. I will be recommending Lily and the NE clinic to anyone I know! (Mark B)

Highly recommend Lily Anderson! I'm a runner and I've done *a lot* of physical therapy at a lot of different practices. PRO Therapy stands apart because of how easy it is to schedule appointments compared to larger health systems. Lily is also always accessible by email and, unlike PTs I've had at larger health systems, always responded to my emails promptly and with substantive advice. I appreciate Lily's strength focused approach and targeted use of manual therapies, and how she made sure to inquire about adequate fueling and other injury risk factors. While I hope I won't be back soon, as a runner I know I'll need PT help again at some point. When I do, I won't hesitate to go back to Lily at PRO Therapy.
