Our Strengthening Physical Therapy Program is designed to meet the specific needs of athletes and active individuals in Minnesota. Our programs are designed to be year-round, built around the athletic seasons to optimize your performance based on your personal goals, sport/activity of interest, movement analysis, fundamental competencies, training environment and competition cycles.
Our specialized program goes beyond general fitness training; we understand the diverse requirements of different sports and activities and tailor our approach accordingly through both manual and exercise-based therapy practices:
Manual, Hands-On Therapy
- Blood Flow Restriction Therapy (BFR)

Weightlifters
Weightlifting, like any physical activity, can lead to injuries if not performed correctly or if the body is pushed beyond its limits. Our PT program includes specific mobility work targeting areas that are commonly tight or restricted in weightlifters, such as the hips, shoulders, and thoracic spine. We also emphasize core stability and functional strength training. Common injuries among weightlifters include:

Crossfit Athletes
Our PT program for CrossFit athletes incorporates a variety of elements to enhance performance. Central to the program are compound movements which build overall strength and mimic the multi-joint movements used in CrossFit.
In addition, targeted isolation exercises are used to strengthen weak or imbalanced muscle groups, such as the rotator cuff, hip stabilizers, and lower back muscles. The program also includes plyometrics and power development exercises to enhance explosive strength and agility.

- Quad Sprains or Tears

MMA Fighters & Boxers
Our specialized program for MMA Fighters, Boxers and other combat athletes focuses on developing explosive power, speed, and agility, which are essential for effective striking or grappling in the ring or cage. We also promote techniques such as massage and myofascial release to alleviate muscle tightness and improve tissue health.
Common fighting injuries include:
- Hand and Wrist Sprains and Fractures
- Rib Fractures
- Muscle Strains
- Ligament Tears
- Dislocated Shoulder
Climbers
Our physical therapists work with climbers in a program that focuses on enhancing climbing-specific strength and mobility. With special attention paid to program components like grip strength and care, antagonist muscle training, joint mobility, and balance, climbers will be able to compete at the next level with increased confidence and improved performance.
