FAQs
Physical Therapy
There are many ways physical therapy can help, and a good therapist will ease your concerns and worries by telling you what’s going wrong, often within 15-20 minutes.
Next, the speed at which the physical problem is eased is completely dependent upon your age, how long you’ve had it, how severe it is, the manual skills of the physical therapist, etc. Rarely, does anyone spend more than 2-3 weeks in our care before experiencing improvements. It often works that quick.
Great news! However, people tend to think that just because their “pain” or symptoms “get better” this means that they’re “healed.” Best advice would be to keep your initial appointment, and have our expert Doctor of Physical Therapy complete a comprehensive evaluation to determine the next best steps for you and your care plan. This is also very important to minimize the risk of your pain and symptoms coming back. Working as a team, together we’ll come up with a solution of which you’re comfortable.
Not really. But…it’s true that physical therapy is a very active physical experience and as such, treatments can at times be a little uncomfortable. We’ll always aim to be as gentle as possible.
Before we do any therapy techniques, we’ll tell you exactly what is about to happen and whether or not it’s likely to hurt and for how long.
At PRO Therapy, you can expect such things like soft tissue work (dry needling, etc.), techniques aimed at loosening stiff joints & stretching tight muscles, combined with strengthening exercises & advice to improve your movement and posture.
Yes. Anyone who is expecting a miracle and hoping to be fixed in one visit. But, that’s why we offer a complimentary Discovery Visit to come into the clinic space, talk with a physical therapist face-to-face and determine if we’re the right option for you.
First Appointment
Often within days. We do our best to accommodate our patients based on availability and urgency of injury. We will always work with you and your scheduling needs.
No (majority of cases). If you’re willing to invest in your health, you’re very welcome to come see us. Feel free to discuss this further with one of our PRO Therapy team members.
A PRO Therapy team member can help you with that question if you ask him/her over the phone. But, you never have to remove large chunks of clothing, and we’ll work with you if you feel uncomfortable at any point. To make your physical therapy experience as comfortable as possible, please keep in mind the location of your injured body region.
For example, if you have a lower back injury, shorts and a loose shirt would be ideal. Or, if you’re suffering from a shoulder injury, a tank top would be great.
Reality is, it will take as long as you need to get the help you came looking for, but, on average about 40 to 60 minutes.
Your entire visit will be spent working one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. Our model of care stresses the importance of individualized treatment specific to your needs.
Yes. No problem. You don’t need to inform us of this decision in advance. If you’re accompanied by a friend or family member, then we’ll often ask if you’d like them to join you in the physical therapy area during treatment. Alternatively, they can wait in the reception area if you’d prefer that option.
