Back Pain Management

Every day, millions of people deal with back pain worldwide. Let’s talk about what might be causing your discomfort, what we can do to help, and how you can get back to feeling great and moving freely

Common Cause of Back Pain

Your back might be giving you grief for various reasons. For example, sometimes people just sleep wrong, or pull a muscle getting up off the floor from playing with their kids, or might be using incorrect form when working out.

Maybe you slipped on ice or tripped on a curb, got in a fender-bender, or took a hit on the sports field. Or perhaps it’s your daily grind – sitting too long, carrying too much body weight, or doing repetitive tasks.

As we get older, wear and tear can definitely play a part. The discs in your spine gradually start to deteriorate, and arthritis can creep in.

Here are some common culprits:

  • Ligament Sprain – Back ligaments help hold your spine together and keep it stable. They can get sprained when your back moves beyond its normal range motion and stretches them further than they’re used to
  • Muscle Strain – Overdo it with the heavy lifting or slouch too much, and you might cause tears in your back muscles.
  • Herniated Disc – Sometimes, the soft inner material of your discs pokes out, irritating nerves and causing pain.
  • Fractured Vertebrae – Trauma, osteoporosis, or other conditions can cause breaks in the bones of your spine.
  • Pinched Nerve – This happens when something squeezes or irritates a nerve, messing with its normal function and causing pain, discomfort, tingling and more.

    Back Pain Treatment

Our expert team of physical therapists, all fully licensed Doctors of Physical Therapy, have a bunch of tricks up their sleeves to ease your back pain and get you moving again.

    Manual Therapy

    Joint mobilization
Gentle movements to improve mobility in areas of the spine that are restricted, restoring normal joint mechanics and reducing stiffness.

    Soft tissue mobilization
Techniques like massage and myofascial release may be used to release tension in muscles, ligaments and fascia focused around the spine.

    Trigger point therapy
We provide targeted pressure to alleviate muscle tension and improve function.

    Therapeutic Interventions

    Movement Analysis
During movement analysis, our physical therapists analyze posture, balance, and other factors to help diagnose the root cause of your pain.

    Custom Rehab Programs
We create personalized rehab plans to strengthen your muscles, boost your flexibility, and help you straighten up your posture.

    Postural Training
We’ll give you the lowdown on Posture 101 – what is best for you right now? Should you stand? Should you sit? Both? Let us help you find the best postural changes for you.

    Back Pain Treatment Techniques

    Cupping
Cupping involves placing cups on your skin to create suction to improve blood flow, ease muscle tension, and promote healing.

    Dry Needling
This therapy uses needles to release knotted muscles or trigger points. Sometimes accompanied by electrical stimulation, using carefully controlled electrical pulses to ease muscle tension and dial down pain.

    Kinesiotaping
Kinesiotaping supports and stabilizes muscles and joints using a specialized elastic tape. It’s applied directly to the skin over muscles or joints in specific patterns to provide support without restricting movement.

    Graston Technique
Therapists use stainless steel instruments to find and work out tight spots and scar tissue in your muscles, tendons, and ligaments.

    The PRO Therapy Difference

At PRO Therapy, our goal is to empower you to live a pain-free life by addressing the root causes of your back pain and providing comprehensive treatment tailored to your unique needs.

If you’re suffering from back pain and stiffness, it’s easy to hope that it will go away on its own. You might think you just slept awkwardly, or it’s just a spasm, or that everyone your age has back pain.

If you’re experiencing back pain and don’t know what caused it, everything you’ve tried isn’t working and you’re fed up – you’ve come to the right place. As a matter of fact, general back pain and sciatica are the most common concerns that we hear about at PRO Therapy.

The difference between seeing one of our physical therapists and seeing your primary care doctor or another type of provider is that a Doctor of Physical Therapy is more specialized in assessing causes of pain and stiffness.

In just a couple of sessions, we can often dial down your pain and stiffness and get you feeling better fast.

Dr. Kelvyn was a delight to work with. He was extremely helpful in identifying specific areas that needed strengthening and I started to feel the impacts of his suggested exercises very quickly!

I have seen Dr. Kelvyn for a couple of injuries and he has done a fantastic job helping to improve and resolve those pain and mobility issues. Jen at the front desk is always kind and welcoming and wonderful. I would highly recommend this business for anyone's physical therapy needs.

My experience at Pro Therapy was phenomenal! Grace listened to my issues and I felt like she really cared that I get relief from my bursitis in my right hip. By targeting the area of concern with very specific exercises and doing a few dry needling sessions, she significantly reduced my hip pain in only 6 weeks! I will definitely be recommending Pro Therapy to anyone I know that needs any kind of physical therapy! Thank you!!

    Great place!

I had a great experience at PRO therapy. It’s a great mix of body work and exercise. It isn’t “a printout of your exercises and come back in two weeks” place. You do all the exercises in the gym with them each session so you know the correct form and how to do them on your own. I have really improved in my strength and my day to day pain has significantly reduced over my time there. My main PT was Dr. Kelvyn and he was great to work with. Very supportive and encouraging. He met me where I was at and didn’t make me feel bad if I couldn’t complete something. If I wanted to be seen but couldn’t get onto his schedule, I saw one of the other PTs and they were all equally great. It was seamless to work with someone else for the day. Jen and the other front desk staff were always very friendly and very helpful. I would highly recommend getting your physical therapy done here.

I worked with Dr. Kelvyn here for over a year and a half on multiple lower body injuries (ankle, knee, hip, lower back). He is the best physical therapist I’ve ever worked with, and unfortunately I’ve had the misfortune of working with a lot of PTs in my lifetime. I appreciated that he really listened to what I was coming in and describing feeling to him each session, and then he tailored the exercises we did together and the exercises he prescribed to do at home based on what I reported at the beginning of our session. He also did a good job of adjusting my at home exercises to my needs and preferences. Can’t recommend Dr. Kelvyn or PRO Therapy enough!

My experience with Grace was wonderful. I saw her for pelvic floor therapy and some general physical therapy and hip mobility. She listened very well to my concerns, was very educational and helped me understand why I was doing the exercises I was doing. I would highly recommend Grace and Pro Therapy.

Grace helped me strengthen my core to the point where my back feels so much better. She gave me excercises that I can do at home that don't require gym equipment.
