At PRO Therapy we see a wide range of sports-related injuries. This is why our experienced physical therapists are dedicated to getting you back in the game as quickly, and safely as possible. Here are five of the most common sports injuries we treat:
Ankle Sprains: These occur when the ligaments supporting the ankle stretch or tear, often due to sudden twisting or rolling of the ankle. Symptoms include ankle pain, swelling, and difficulty bearing weight.
ACL Tears: The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is crucial for knee stability. ACL Tears often happen during sports involving sudden stops, changes in direction, or landing awkwardly. It’s quite a common running injury, and you might hear a “pop” and experience significant pain and swelling around the knee area..
Achilles Tendonitis and Tears: The Achilles tendon, connecting the calf muscles to the heel bone, can become inflamed (tendonitis) due to overuse, leading to pain and stiffness in the back of the ankle. In severe cases, the tendon can tear, causing sudden, sharp pain and difficulty walking.
Rotator Cuff Injuries: This group of muscles and tendons in the shoulder can be injured through overuse, falls, or direct impact. Symptoms can range from dull pain to a limited range of motion in the shoulder.
Hamstring Strains: These injuries involve the muscles at the back of the thigh and often occur during activities that require sprinting or sudden acceleration. Symptoms include a sharp pain in the back of the thigh and difficulty straightening the leg.
